Myles Update
Growing up!
By his mom, April 2009Spring 2009
Well, Myles has been up in the Chicago area serving with the ministry Robert works for. He gets a small stipend and is suppose to be saving his money for future education/endeavors, only time will tell. He is doing maintenance and learning in other areas when he can, like computers, and the health conference department. As parents we see he is learning what it means to work and to figure out what it is he wants to do with his life, he is pretty passive and easy going and not at all in a hurry. This is quite different from his parents. For the most part he is socializing and enjoying total freedom and independence, we are waiting for him to figure out that that is not all it is cracked up to be and certainly doesn't get you very far in life. We would like to see him finish his high school education, he does not think so. He thinks he is learning so much more right now. We sure hope so!
Fall
Myles is home at the moment but has been in the Chicago area with the same ministry we have been serving with. He is doing construction/maintenance during the day and then learning about health in the evenings. He went to another training center in Oklahoma and hopes to go back to help them get caught up.
Myles is interested in missions so is hoping to go on another trip next year, he has some contacts for people wanting to start an orphanage in Mexico. Time and money will determine if he goes and when.
The Summer 2008
Myles got a full time job at a warehouse that Robert has gotten supplies for his job for all these years. Myles was so excited the night before his first day he could hardly sleep. That didn't last long before he got bored and he didn't feel it was challenging enough either. Works with some interesting folk from interesting backgrounds too, he has learned alot.
He has also bought his first vehicle, and now a second and selling the first. He is very good at mechanical things too so he does pretty much everything on it, hmm I am not sure where he learned this from either.
I am also not sure where he learned his computer experience either but I for one depend on him for any issues I have. He was offered a job to be a computer tech support but was not able to take it.
Myles is currently transitioning to another job working for AT&T, he is excited about it and it will be a good experience for him. He is also hoping it will enable to do complete more education as it has been hard for him with a full time job. His mom thinks though that time management is more of an issue, teehee.

He is gone to Mexico!
Myles left on October 10th early in the morning for Guadalajara Mexico, a place called Chapala. Some missionaries there have an orphanage. Myles will be helping where they need him like maintenance. We are excited for him but miss him, he returns December 5th so he is gone a while, not just a couple of weeks. He wants to be a missionary pilot one day so this will be a good introduction. Pray for him!

His ears
Many of you know we have had ongoing issues in regards to Myles ears or his left ear mainly. He has had many surgeries to correct and place a prosthetic in hopes that it would conduct sound and improve hearing. It hasn't worked at all, and they don't know why and only speculate. His body tends to build scar tissue quite a bit and with every surgery they are always cleaning up that and have actuallly had to postpone placing the prosthetic a few times because it was just too messy in there.
Our doctor here encouraged us to go with a hearing aid and said we can always at anytime go in their and try to clean it up and do it again but thought we would want to try this and see how it does. We all agreed that doing more surgery we weren't interested in for now and thought a hearing aid would be a good thing to try.
Myles is going in again for another ear impression on Wednesday because the first hearing aid just didn't work in that it didn't give enough sound and Myles said it just felt like it was plugging up his ear and making the hearing worse. So, we will end up going with the kind that goes around the outside of the ear which is what we had hoped to avoid but now see it just isn't that big of a deal and hearing is better than not.
Myles is very easy going with all this and we as parents get more intense about it than he does. He takes it all in stride and deals with it. We are very curious to see once he gets this new hearing aid that has more sound range just how much he is missing and how that will affect him.
